1 Hunger Games: Literature Literacy, and Online Affinity Spaces

2 My thoughts on the Curwood (2013) article
Whether it is The Hunger Games or other literary texts, affinity spaces can significantly cultivate student interest and meaning making. I see the power of affinity spaces in my own children. How can affinity spaces be utilized in regular classrooms? Are what are some potential risks or concerns with affinity spaces?

3 What are your thoughts?

4 Check in on your nations
How is your nation doing? Can you see how this functions as a affinity space? In what ways are your beliefs and perceptions reflected by your nation? In what ways are they different from your nation?

5 Affinity Spaces Discussion Question: According to Lewis (2007, as cited by Curwood & Fink, 2013) integrating technology into the classroom requires teachers to “acquire new orientations to time, space, performance, creativity, and design” (p. 425). Select one of these orientations and discuss ways in which teachers might reimagine or rethink prior assumptions about teaching and learning.

6 To what extent do kids need technology to find affinity spaces?
