Hitler During the Allied advance across Europe Hitler ordered “no retreat” He spent most of April in his bunker in Berlin On April 29,1945 He married his long time girlfriend Eva Braun Wrote his final address to the people of Germany (still blamed the Jews for everything) The following day Eva and Adolf committed suicide. The Nazis in the bunker to their bodies outside and burned them with gasoline

May 8, 1945 the German command surrendered to the USSR However Roosevelt did not see the fall of Hitler or the Third Reich He died April 12, 1945 Harry Truman will take over as President
