6. Resolution of disputes
History has shown us that people can and do break the law.
We currently live in a well regulated environment BUT in 2013/2014 there were still 433,718 offences that were recorded in Victoria alone.
Police = Investigation
Courts = Dispute resolution
Sanctions = Determined by legislation and can be issues by a variety of regulatory bodies such as courts, police, VicRoads, local councils.
Criminal Law = resolves disputes according to society expectations
Civil Law = Aims to restore a person to a similar position prior to the wrong taking place. (Generally with money)
