A significantly greater reduction in HVPG was observed with propranolol plus prazosin than with propranolol plus ISMN. At 3 months, the final value of HVPG was significantly lower in patients receiving propranolol plus prazosin (P < 0.05).

(A) Combination therapy did not further decrease the HVPG in propranolol responders, but (B) both drug combinations enhanced the decrease in HVPG in propranolol nonresponders. The reduction of HVPG caused by propranolol plus prazosin was significantly greater than that by propranolol plus ISMN.
