Lets Go Green Campaign 1. INTRODUCTION You are local councillors who have been given government money for a campaign to encourage people in their area to protect the environment. The money comes with a condition: in order to get it, you must prepare a presentation to convince members of the government that it will be spent effectively.

Lets Go Green Campaign 2. TASK You will have to deliver a speech to persuade the government to accept your campaign and encourage people in your town / city be part of your campaign and vote for you! You will need a Power Point presentation to support your speech) You will also have to design a leaflet for your campaign.

Lets Go Green Campaign 4. EVALUATION Each student will complete an assessment table for each group and group members. You will all be assessed following the same rubric.

Lets Go Green Campaign 5. CONCLUSION. Now you know what we are doing wrong with the environment, what the impact of our own actions on the environment is, but you have also learned what we CAN and MUST do in order to help to improve IT, so… Do not sit back and TAKE ACTION! Every little helps!

Lets Go Green Campaign In groups of 3 you will plan and design a speech and leaflet on how to protect the environment. Each person in the group will have a different role (coordinator, designer and ICT expert). In your final presentation you will have different roles: a politician, a scientist, a celebrity spokesperson.

Lets go Green ! (Roles) Politician & coordinator You are in charge. Make sure all tasks are achieved on time. Check that all the members do their job. Scientist & designer In charge of drawing plans, pictures and all kind of visuals needed. A celebrity spokesperson & ICT expert. In charge of preparing the final presentation (PPT) with the materials prepared by the members of the group.

Lets Go Green Campaign Prepare an outline of your campaign. Here you have some ideas: Where in your area are there problems with rubbish, pollution? How will you tackle this? How will you spend the money? How will you get the message across to the people in your town/ school? When? How long will the campaign last?

Recycle now (1) VIDEO 1 Joel and Charlie visit Thorpe Park, a major amusement park and visitor attraction, and think about recycling when out and about. They meet a representative from the park who explains about their recycling zones, before interviewing young visitors to find out what they know and think about recycling, why it matters, and whether or not they recycle themselves.

Recycle now (2) VIDEO 2 The two friends follow two kerbside recycling collections and find out what happens to the sorted and mixed recyclable materials they see collected. They discover the importance of not mixing items in with your recycling, and visit where recylable materials are sorted ready for reprocessing.

Recycle now (3) VIDEO 3 Joel and Charlie find out what local authorities, the government and retailers are doing to help us to recycle more and to tackle the short term and long term environmental impacts of the waste that we create. They talk to a council recycling officer and the Secretary of State for the Environment.

Recycle now (4) VIDEO 4 The friends look back on what they have learnt and think about what they could do to take action at home and at school.
