I. Changing Motion An object speeds up or down.
What would the d vs. t graph look like? Curved.
2
A. Velocity vs. Time On a velocity vs. time graph, the slope is equal to the acceleration. Acceleration is the change in velocity over time. Can change in speed, direction, or both
3
B. Types of Acceleration
Positive = speeding up Negative = slowing down or going in the opposite direction Zero = no change. Constant velocity +, -, or zero acceleration corresponds to the slope on the v vs. t graph.
4
C. Formulas (also called Kinematic formulas)
a = vf - vi t vf = vi + at Δd = vit + ½ at2 (remember Δd = xf - xi ) vf2 = vi2 + 2aΔd ( or Δd = Δx )
