Use the coordinate grid to answer the following questions: Explain a possible path from the school to the library. Possible Solutions: Travel 3 blocks north and then 2 blocks west. Travel 2 blocks west and then 3 blocks north. Go up 3 blocks and left 2 blocks. Go left 2 blocks and up 3 blocks. Up 1 square, back 1 square, up 1 square, back 1 square, then up 1 square.

Turn to pg 111 in Activity book or pg 363 in hard back book
Study the grid at the top of the page What does each square represent? One city block You may work in pairs to answer questions 1-3. Discuss responses from questions 1-3.

With your partner… Use the same coordinate grid of Abdi’s community…
Create at least 3 questions that can be answered using the grid. Use questions 1-3 as examples for the questions you should create. Once your questions are written, use Day 52 “Abdi’s Community Grid Recording Sheet” to create a worksheet for other students to complete using the questions you created. Leave the space between each question so another group in the class can answer your questions in that space. Once your worksheet is complete, trade worksheets with another group. Can you solve their problems?
