Air Foil Project By: Kyle Greulach and Grant Gallagher
2
We are designing an air foil to get the most amount of lift and the least amount of drag
This air foil is going to be tested in a wind tunnel that was built in our classroom last year Understand
3
As a team, we completed 3 worksheets to further understand how to make our air foil the best
We did a worksheet which grafted pressure and area and forced us to find the integral in a variety of ways An introduction to the Foil Sim program worksheet A worksheet in which we applied our own data and used the lift equation Explore
4
Our air foil had to be 5 inches in span, 3 inches in chord, and at most, 1 inch thick
Our air foil has to be made out of balsa wood, dowel rods, and a manila folder We had a screw going through to of the balsa wood pieces so we could hang a hang to measure lift and drag of the air foil Define

The results for both graphs came out to be sine curves because the lift and drag are both 0 at 0 degrees and at 90 degrees Even though our graphs don’t go to higher angle measures, we predict that the graphs will behave this way with logical thinking and the data points we did graph Solution
