3 Two Body Systems Involved
Nervous System- CONTROL CENTER Coordinates and regulates all body function Endocrine System- CONTROLS HORMONE LEVELS Regulates mood, growth and development, tissue function, metabolism, and sexual function and reproductive processes

4 Fight, Flight or Freeze Response
Instinctive Response Adrenaline is released Changes to the Body: Heart Rate Increases Breathing increases Pupils Dilate Fat from cell and glucose from liver metabolize Digestion Slows Perspiration increases Blood Vessels to skin constrict Acute Stress Response Heart rate increases and breathing to pump more oxygen to the muscles to respond Pupils dilate to help us see better even in the dark Fat and glucose are used for instant energy Blood vessels to skin constrict to reduce blood loss if injured Hair also stands on end to increase you sensivitivy to surrownding environment Endorphins are released to delay pain response

7 CHRONIC STRESS Chronic stress is stress that lasts a long time or occurs frequently. Chronic stress is potentially damaging. Can Cause: upset stomach headache backache insomnia anxiety depression anger In sever cases can lead to panic/anxiety disorders
