Remember… ELEMENTS are pure substances made of the same type of atoms all throughout. Ex: Carbon, Aluminum, Nitrogen, Oxygen, Helium, Magnesium They are all on the periodic table.

Compound A bonded substance made of more than one element.

CHNOPS Organic Compound
Compound that contains organic carbon and other atoms– usually Oxygen, Hydrogen, Nitrogen, Phosphorous or Sulfur. CHNOPS

Proteins Large complex molecules containing C,H,N,O, and sometimes S. Proteins break down into amino acids.

Carbohydrates Molecules containing C, H, and O. Breaks down into sugars.

Fats/Lipids Large complex molecule containing C, H, and O. Breaks down into fatty acids. Lipids are an important part of every living cell.
