2 Ms. LeDoux 8C Late / Incomplete Work Absentee Policy 2016-2017
ELA 8C Ms. LeDoux Late / Incomplete Work Absentee Policy * My expectation is that ALL assignments be completed to a level of proficiency (75% or higher) and turned in on time. If an assignment is turned in and effort is apparent but proficiency is not demonstrated, the assignment can be reviewed, redone, and resubmitted for a higher grade. Late work will be accepted with a 10 point deduction from the final grade.  *Students have one week to turn in missing work after progress reports, After one week, the work will no longer be accepted. It is the student’s responsibility to check the make-up work folders to find any assignments missed. * A student has five to turn in any work assigned on a day a student was absent. If a quiz was administered on a day a student was absent, the quiz must be made up on the first day the student returns. If previously assigned work was due on the day of the absence, the work is due on the first day the student returns. Computer Use: Students are to use their student log-ins while using the computers and are to abide by the technology policies and rules as agreed upon by the student and parent/guardian(s) in the student handbook. This year, we will have laptops in every classroom. If the student is not able to use the computer in a constructive way, he or she will be restricted from using the computers. Cell Phone Use: Student will sometimes be allowed to use their cell phones or electronic devices for reading or research purposes. If a student does not have permission to be on their device, it should not be out.  Technology Plagiarism At BMS Our Students: - See errors as opportunities. Are comfortable saying they don’t know and/ or need help Can answer: Where am I now? Where am I going? How am I getting there? Can state what they are learning and why. Can set goals and expectations Never give up. Utilize accountable talk and impactful writing x Plagiarism is the taking ideas and writings of another and passing them off as one’s own. In this class, plagiarism includes... 1. turning in another’s work as one’s own 2. copying work from a friend before class (or while in another class) 3. including a source but failing to cite it 4. copying an author’s exact words and passing them off as one’s own Students caught plagiarizing will be given a ZERO for the assignment, and parents will be contacted. I, ________________________________________, have read and understand the rules and expectations for ELA. I acknowledge that it is my responsibility to contact my teacher if I have any questions or concerns. I know that this syllabus, weekly schedules, and resources are available to me on Ms. LeDoux’s website at any time.
