2 Occupational exposure to hazardous chemicals
This standard states that employers must: Must inform employees of all hazardous chemicals within the workplace Must keep a material safety data sheet (msds) binder Binder has a form for each chemical used in the workplace Each msds form contains chemical info, and directions for safe use

3 PASS = used to put the fire out
Fire safety R - rescue A - Alarm C - contain E - extinguish P – pull A – aim S – squeeze S – sweep PASS = used to put the fire out Only PASS if the fire is less than the size of a small trash can, if there is no chance of explosion, or spreading

4 Fall precautions Keep patients safe! Keep the floor clean and dry
Use night lights Always leave bed in lowest position Call light must be within reach No rugs Keep a clear pathway If medications cause increased urination, don’t give at night If a patient has a high risk of falling (iv’s, pain meds, post surgery), inform them to ask for help before getting out of bed Always leave at least 2 bed rails up (but no more than 3 – 4 bed rails up = restraints (can’t do without md’s order)) Keep patients safe!

5 Body mechanics Keep yourself safe!
Carry heavy objects close to your body Lift with your legs, not your back Avoid twisting, turning, and bending Squat instead of bending If pushing a wheelchair, keep feet aligned in front of you
