What was the German Holocaust?
The holocaust was the execution of over six million Jewish people during World War II. Others such as Jehovah Witnesses and Mentally Disabled were also targeted. An estimate of 17 million people were killed. Lasted from 1933 until 1945.

Who Was Responsible? A group called the National Socialist German Workers’ Party or better known as the NAZI party. It was led by Adolf Hitler who was the chancellor of Germany.

Relocation The first step in the demise of the Jews was a process called relocation. First Jews were moved to small ghettoes.

Moving When they were moved they were moved by train or wagons.

Life in the Ghettoes In the ghettoes the Jewish people were required to work for the Nazi regime. The ghettoes were crowded and diseases were rampant. There was a nightly curfew.

Ghettoes were so crowded many children were overlooked.

Concentration Camps The next phase in the hostile take over was moving the Jews to Concentration Camps throughout Germany.

Life in the Concentration Camps
At the camps the Jews were separated by gender. They were stripped of all possessions including jewelry. Their hair was buzzed short to prevent the spread of lice. They were assigned bunkers.

They had a number tattooed on them. Their names were not used. They were forced to work everyday. The sick were shot or gassed. They were fed rarely. Meals consisted of soups made of various objects including dead animals.

Work included plowing fields or vital work in the camp.

German soldiers were very cruel.

Jews were shot if…… They got near the fences. They caught a disease.
They fought back. They stepped out of line.

Each day so many died…….

Most were executed for no reason…..

Most were told they would get a shower and were gassed.

After they passed away their bodies were burnt in furnaces.

Most of the world was in war.
World War II began when Germany invaded Poland on September 1, 1939. It was a war fought from 1939 to 1945, in which Great Britain, France, the Soviet Union, the United States, China, and other allies defeated Germany, Italy, and Japan.
