Use of Automatic Identification System (AIS) Norwegian Coastal Administration owner of 2 satellites Passing “Pole to Pole” Started in 2001 All AIS activity received by these satellites are stored in a Data Base Main purpose of AIS is a anti-collision system However Used as an intelligence tool to monitor activity at sea, such as fisheries, oil spill from vessels etc.. Norway are willing to share to prevent, deter and eliminate illegal, underreported and unregulated fisheries
