Shutter Priority Shots
All action shots are shutter priority shots. The shutter speed determines the amount of time that light is allowed to pass through the lens exposing the film which results in a blurred action or stop action shot. This means that you set your shutter speed first. Then you set your f-stop (the size of the aperture) using your light meter to determine the correct setting.

Set your shutter speed to 1/250, 1/500, 1/1000 set your f-stop according to the light meter

Set your shutter speed to 1/15, 1/8, 1/4, 1/2 set your f-stop according to the light meter

Aperture Priority Shots
All photographs that deal with focus are aperture priority shots This means that you set your f-stop (the size of the aperture) first. Then you set your shutter speed using your light meter to determine the correct setting.
