Copying of DNA to produce new molecules with the same base sequence.

3. Steps of DNA Replication
DNA is unzipped
Helicase: enzyme that breaks the hydrogen bonds between the original strands of DNA
Original Strand acts as a template
DNA Polymerase: enzyme that carry out DNA replication by adding the free nucleotides to the new strand.
Proofreading occurs during this step making sure A pairs with T and C pairs with G.
Daughter DNA molecules rewind into a double helix.
Each strand contains one original and one new strand.
