3 The Circulatory System

4 Circulatory System Structure
Consists of The heart Blood vessels Arteries Veins Capillaries Blood

5 Key Functions of the Circulatory System page 157 Draw a picture you associate for each:
Delivering Needed Materials Oxygen Glucose Removing Waste Carbon dioxide Fight Disease Disease fighting cells

6 Circle of Blood On average, your body has about 5 liters of blood continually traveling through it by way of the circulatory system. A pumping heart forces the blood on its journey The heart, the lungs, and the blood vessels work together to form the circle part of the circulatory system. Draw a circle and insert these parts.

7 Three Distinct Parts Pulmonary Circulation Coronary Circulation
Blood circulating to and from the lungs Coronary Circulation Blood circulating to the heart itself Systemic Circulation Blood circulating through the rest of the body Each part must work independently to keep all of them working together

8 Pulmonary Circulation
The movement of blood from the heart, to the lungs, and back to the heart again.

9 Coronary Circulation The movement of blood through the tissues of the heart. The heart needs nourishment too.

10 Systemic Circulation Supplies nourishment to all of the tissue located throughout your body Except for the heart and lungs because they have their own systems. Systemic circulation is a major part of the overall circulatory system. Made of heart, arteries, veins and blood
