Lunar Phases (or Phases of the Moon)
The moon revolves around the earth. The two are attracted to each other because of gravity. Gravity is a force of attraction between two objects and is explained by Newton’s law of universal gravitation As the moon revolves around the earth, it appears differently to people on Earth. There are 8 main phases of the moon:

Tides and the Moon The moon rotates around the earth all day.
The sides that are «next» to the moon or opposite are most attracted by the gravity of the moon. That attraction causes a « bulging » of the oceans, known as tides.

Tides are even higher when the gravitational pull of the moon and the sun combine (which is when they are aligned)
