1 2015 Iditarod By James K.

2 Introduction The Iditarod race started because in 1925 a terrible disease named Diphtheria was spreading in Nome, Alaska. People had to get medicine for the people or they would die!!

3 Routes and Checkpoints
The route is different this year because the snow was melting and they had to start in Fairbanks and end in Nome. They had to travel miles There are 17 check points there.

4 Musher My musher’s name is Martin Buser. His bib number is 4.
He 57 years old. He was born and raised in Winterthur Switzerland. His hometown is Big Lake, Alaska.

5 Dogs The dogs wear socks that makes them not get scratches harnesses.
The equipment is like GPS tracker and Snow Hook or Ice hook toggles. They used huskies, Indian dog, and malamute. They start with 16 dogs in the beginning of the race.

6 Awards PenAir Spirit of Alaska Award-Presented to the first musher to reach McGrath. Wells Fargo Bank Alaska Award-Presented to the First musher to reach the ‘’Gold Cost’’ community of Unalakleet Red lantern Award-is for the last musher
