Jaguar Jumpstart On Stage, from OUT OF THE DUST When I point my fingers at the keys, the music springs straight out of me. Right hand playing notes sharp as tongues, telling stories while the smooth buttery rhythms back me up on the left. Folks sway in the Palace aisles grinning and stomping and out of breath, and the rest, eyes shining, fingers snapping, feet tapping. It's the best I ever felt playing hot piano, sizzling with Mad Dog, Swinging with the Black Mesa Boys, or on my own, crazy I’ve ever felt, sizzling with swinging with the Black Mesa Boys, crazy, pestering the keys. That is heaven. Playing piano can be. Read the two different sources about being a music performer. How are the two statements similar? Explain in two complete sentences. How are the two statements different? Explain in two complete sentences.

Mr. Kelley’s Test Rules Take all backpacks and personal belongings to the designated area against the wall. Have nothing at or on your desk except for a pencil. I will hand out the tests. Do not pick them up until I say it is OK. Raise your hand if you have a question. Read every question closely. Follow directions exactly as written, especially when they say “complete sentences.” No communication whatsoever with classmates!! When you finish, bring it to the tray on my desk (the desk next to the screen). You do not need permission to turn in your test. When you return to your seat, begin reading OUT OF THE DUST, from pages 37 through 51.
