What does the word mean? Charity

What we provide, What we fund:
This is information from the Grand Appeal website: LIFE SAVING MEDICAL EQUIPMENT We fund pioneering equipment to help save the lives of sick children and babies from across the South West region and beyond. FAMILY ACCOMMODATION We help keep families of sick babies and children together at an extremely difficult time, by providing home-from-home family accommodation. ARTS MUSIC AND PLAY We ensure that the children’s hospital is a child-friendly, vibrant and welcoming place for patients and families. COTS FOR TOTS APPEAL Our Cots for Tots Appeal supports the Special Care Baby Unit at St Michael’s Hospital, which cares for babies requiring life-saving care. PATIENT AND FAMILY SUPPORT We look after the needs of the patient and their families, whilst they undergo lifesaving treatment and care by funding some of the hospital’s key staff. We fund all of the different works on generous public donations as we are a charity which is known as the Grand Appeal.

Grand Appeal’s New Campaign
The Grand Appeal have created a new campaign. The Campaign is called the “Home From Home Appeal” and the Campaign has been designed to raise 1.5 million pound so that the Grand Appeal can make a amazing free facility to accommodate the parents and family members of the ill children in the hospital. This is information from the Grand Appeal website: “We’re excited to announce our new Home from Home Appeal, to raise £1.5million to provide free accommodation for families at Bristol Children’s Hospital. Bristol Children’s Hospital cares for 100,000 sick children and babies a year from across the South West and beyond, providing lifesaving equipment and specialist care to treat some of the most complex and life-threatening conditions. However, this also means that more and more children, from further and further away, are travelling to Bristol. Their families need somewhere to stay while they are cared for, and there is simply not enough accommodation currently available. For families, finding a place to stay adds even more stress to the pressure of having a child who is critically ill. Many also have to face hours travelling to and from Bristol, when they could be spending time with their child. They need somewhere to stay close to the hospital, so that they are always on hand to provide the love, familiarity and reassurance that makes a huge difference to a child’s recovery.”
