2 What is the DofE? The Adventure Starts here….
Recognised all over the world! Gives a student an ‘edge’ when applying to college, university or work Gain many skills which will improve self esteem and confidence Shows ‘stickability’ and commitment It’s not easy to achieve the Award (on average only 50% of students who enrol on the Award will achieve their Bronze)

4 Students should be well on their way to completing at least two of their sections by the end of April. Students should aim for Completion of the whole Award by the end of year 10.

7 The Expedition Training (Thursday evenings)
2 Expeditions: Practice and Qualifying 2 days walking/1 night camping per expedition Document title from Header and Footer details

8 The Expedition TEAMS! Students need to organise themselves into mixed groups of 6 or 7 Names to be submitted to the D of E team on the required form by Friday 22nd March. Once the deadline has passed, the D of E team will put students into teams for them! Document title from Header and Footer details

9 The Expedition Training Programme
Starting 4th April on Thursday evenings * Date Time Activity Thursday 4th April 3.15 – 4.45 Cooking and Equipment Wednesday 24th April 1.30 – 6.00 Group 1 – Training walk from school. Finish at River Wyre Car Park at top of High Street Thursday 25th April 3.15 – 4.30 Group 2 – Based at school – navigation and route cards Thursday 2nd May Group 2 – Training walk from school. Finish at River Wyre Car park at top of High Street Group 1 - Based at school – navigation and route cards Thursday 9th May Tents and Campcraft Thursday 16th May 3.15 – 4.00 Kit issue and final briefing

10 Friday 17th and Saturday 18th May

13 The Expedition Equipment
GCA will provide: Maps Compasses Cooking stoves and fuel Group first aid kits You need to provide: Items on suggested kit list including Food & Drink Your personal clothing Medication and toiletries Boots GCA have a limited number of: Tents Rucksacks Document title from Header and Footer details

14 The Expedition Mobile Phones:
Mobile Phones are BANNED during the expedition. They should be left at home. However a mobile phone per team will be provided by the School for emergency use only. Document title from Header and Footer details

15 The Expedition Medical Consent Forms Cost:
