Week 8 Words: Copy words and definitions into binder
Genre- a specific type of music, film, or writing. Chronological- a record of events that starts with the earliest and follows the order in which they occurred Allusion- An indirect reference to some piece of knowledge not actually mentioned Transition-words and phrases that provide a connection between ideas, sentences and paragraphs Analogy- a comparison between two things, typically for the purpose of explanation or clarification

Turn and talk Who or what helped you transition from 6th to 7th grade? What is different? What genre of literature is your favorite? People often quote movie lines, which could be used as an allusion. What is a movie line you like to quote? List your family members in chronological order – oldest to youngest. Analogy: In is to Out : as Up is to ____________ Eyes are to seeing : as Ears are to __________

Copy the sentences into your binder
The fantasy genre of literature often has allusions to real world happenings. Adding transitions to stories that are written in chronological order is the easiest. Some people use analogies as often as a flea jumps.
