The Most Dangerous Game Meet the Writer
Richard Connell was born in in Duchess County, New York. While still in high school, he began his writing career working for his father’s Poughkeepsie newspaper. As a student at Harvard, he wrote for two college newspapers. He went on to write hundreds of short stories, as well as novels and Hollywood screenplays.

The date is uncertain, but the story spans over a 4 day period Probably in the late 1920’s or early 1930’s The setting is both hostile and friendly It is both natural and man-made

Characters Protagonist = Rainsford Antagonists = Zaroff and Ivan

Rainsford Rainsford is an excellent hunter
He has written a book about hunting. Doesn’t view hunting animals as murder. He says animals don’t understand fear.

Zaroff Excellent hunter
He has read books about hunting that were written in English, French and Russian. He hums a tune from an opera (Madam Butterfly). He lives in a well decorated Chateau (oak panels, high ceiling, vast refectory table).
