1. Compose a Strangeworth Letter
Select a character at right. Then, compose a Strangeworth Letter.
Your letter should:
Write in Ms. Strangeworth’s “style” and “voice”
Be anonymous. (but for grading purposes – put your name at top).
Be appropriate to be read aloud in school.
Be at least 6 sentences.
If you finish – write another!
An 18 year old girl who is dating a 30 year old man.
A 2 year old child that cannot yet walk or talk.
A 70 year old widow that poisoned her husband.
A 35 year old man who stole money from his company to pay for his new car.
A 20 year old boy who abuses the medicine he was prescribed after his car accident.
A 23 year old girl who has cheated on her fiancé.
For example:
THOSE LONG BLACK VEILS CAN’T HIDE YOUR GUILT FOR VERY MUCH LONGER. WHERE’D YOU LEAVE THE RAT POISON, SUSAN?

2. Revise and Edit
Dear Susan, I regret to inform you that I saw the empty boxes of rat poison you discarded of last Thursday. I can only surmise that you used this product in your husband’s daily oatmeal. I wish you would have talked with someone prior to taking these actions of evil and hatred on such a sweet and loving husband. I will pray for you and your eternal soul each day. Please contact me if you ever feel these urges rise again as I will do my best to get you the help and support that you so desperately need. Best wishes, Kristen
Now, it’s time to revise and edit your Strangeworth letter.
On the opposite side, compose a contrasting version of your letter.

Be socially acceptable
Be written as a friendly, formal letter
Helpfully solve the problem
Be signed by you
