How does it work? Logan is making t-shirts for his buddies and has 4 yards of material. If each shirt needs 2/3 of a yard, how many shirts can he make? Logan has enough material to make 6 shirts!

Set your problem up like normal. 4 1 3 2 2 3 12 2 x ÷ 6 = = Same Change Change Now here is the trick…we NEVER divide fractions! We just FLIP the second fraction over and multiply! It’s called the RECIPROCAL!!!

OK, lets review the different ways to divide fractions
The best part…we DON’T divide fractions! We just FLIP over the 2nd fraction and multiply instead. This is called the reciprocal 2 3 3 2 1 7 7 1
