1 Criminal Causation Research
Part I: Using any available local news resources, locate and summarize five articles that demonstrate the presence of our discussed “factors of criminal causation” in our community. Articles should reference incidents which occurred within the last year. Specifically, you should find one article involving each of the following factors: firearms, alcohol, illegal narcotics, gangs, and mental illness. For each article, after you provide a brief summary, identify how the element of criminal causation in question contributed to the criminal act, and how this factor impacts the community as a whole. You do not have to provide formal citations, but each summary should be accompanied by a link to the article reviewed. Part II: After reviewing problem 7.10E, you need to choose one approach to take in order to best stem the rising drug problem in the city of “Southland.” Once you have decided on an approach, prepare/create a four-slide power-point presentation in order to sell a town council on the proposal you have decided to back. You should utilize online resources to find further research that supports your choice (a minimum of two pieces of evidence), and find an orderly, business-like, and concise approach to making your argument. Each slide should include an appropriate illustration, chart, document, etc… Presentations should be printed in a 2/page format. *All “supporting evidence” should come from sources that are factual, based in scientific/criminological studies, and are beyond reproach in their connection to academia.
