Rules and Procedures. Take 30 seconds to think about the following. Discuss with your group members. Write down important points and then get ready to share. Group one – What are rules? Group two- What are procedures? Group three- Are rules and expectations important?

Rules and Procedures What are rules? What are procedures?
Rules is are guides for conduct or action. What are procedures? A series of actions completed in a certain order or manner

Rules and Procedures Why are rules and procedures important?
When used appropriately, rules provide a sense of predictability and consistency for children, thereby promoting physical and emotional safety. Rules help guide actions toward desired results.

Rules for Math class Show respect to everyone and school property.
Be ready for class. Follow teacher’s directions. Keep you hands, feet and objects to yourself. Keep cell phones off and out of sight( unless it is being used for a class activity).

Procedures Show respect to everyone and school property. Eg.
Use appropriate language at all times in class. Tell the truth about each other Speak softly in class especially when doing group activities. Some people can’t concentrate in noise. People two benches away should not be able to repeat what you said. Take care of furniture and other objects in the class and the school.

Procedures Be ready for class. Be on time for class.
Line up at the door along the lockers. Have your notebook and other materials needed ready in hand. Submit homework at station at you walk quietly in class.

Procedures Follow directions from your teachers.
Eat only during lunch time or other specified times. Use the restroom before class. Ask permission to leave your seat. Raise your hands and wait to be acknowledged. Be attentive in class.(Pay attention during teaching and leaning). Follow any other directions given by the teacher.

Procedures Keep you hands, feet and objects to yourself.
Respect other peoples’ space and privacy. Avoid distracting others

Procedures Keep cell phones off and out of sight( unless it is being used for a class activity). Cell phones and other electronic devices are great tools but the can be distracting to you and your peers during teaching and learning if the are not apart of the lesson.

Consequences Consequences include but are not limited to:
Verbal warning Time out Bounce Calling parents Lunch detentions Silent lunch

Consequences These may include but not limited to: Warnings
Silent lunch Bounce Parent(s)/guardian phone calls After school detention. Parent conferences Office visit Suspensions NB. All consequences applied will be documented.
