2. Peer Reviewing is Fun!
Working with your classmates to help improve their designs can be lots of fun. But first, you have to learn what it means to “peer review” and how to do it!

3. What is Peer Reviewing?
A peer is someone your own age.
Reviewing means looking at making suggestions, comments, compliments, and changes to designs.
Peer reviewing means working with someone your own age – usually someone in your class – to help improve, revise, and edit his or her design.

There are three important steps to remember when you are peer reviewing another student’s design.

Step 3 - Corrections

Remember, you’re helping to change someone else’s work. Think about how you would feel if someone were telling you what needed to be improved in your own design…

Tell the designer what you think he or she did well:
I really loved your design
I think you used a lot of good details
I liked when you used the word ______
My favorite part was ________ because…
This was really fun to look at because…
I liked the way you_________…

Look at the Design and materials used. Record three compliments about the Design that you would tell the designer if you were peer reviewing their design.

8. Remember – stay positive and be specific!
STEP 2 Suggestions
Making suggestions means giving the designer some specific ideas about how to make his or her design better.
Remember – stay positive and be specific!
Instead of, “that looks really messy,” say, “If you sketched more carefully I would be able to see your design idea better.”

Design: How big is the house going to be?

Record 3 suggestions you would make to the design and why?
1- bigger roof to catch more water
2- more water tanks to hold more water
3-wider veranda to have a larger outdoor sun smart undercover area to relax

11. The third step in the peer review process is making corrections.

The third step in the peer review process is making corrections.
Corrections means checking your peer’s paper for:
Spelling mistakes
Grammar mistakes
Missing punctuation
Incomplete or run-on sentences
This is only required for any worksheets handed out

12. STEP 3 Corrections
Take another look at the design and check the work you have just completed.

13. Things to Remember…
Stay positive – Try to make suggestions and corrections in a positive way.
Be specific – Give the designer specific ideas on how to improve his or her design.
Complete all 3 steps – compliments, suggestions, and corrections.
