Vocabulary – Quinn 2 & 3 sauntered – (verb) – to walk with a leisurely stride: stroll Then he sauntered off slowly, making sure I knew he was dismissing me surged – (verb) – to have a large, momentary increase An unexpected wave of anger surged through me. demented – (adj.) – crazy; insane You’re demented. scrimmage – (noun) – a practice game played between 2 units of the same team. When we got into the scrimmage, I popped free and missed the first open shot. improvised – (verb) - to make from whatever materials are readily available. I improvised by shredding some extra cheddar cheese into our bowls brutality – (noun) – an action that is savage, cruel, and/or inhuman Uh crap, police brutality?” racism – (noun) – a belief that differences in groups determine acheivement usually involving the idea that one’s own group is superior and has the right to dominate others or that a particular group is inferior to others. “Why is it taking me five minutes to say the word racism?” mustered – (verb) – to gather or summon “And if I don’t do something,” I finally mustered, “if I just stay silent, it’s just like saying it’s not my problem.”
