4 Day 1 Roose’s Chocolate World
you will be welcomed by shop assistants and lead to a demonstration of the fine art of pralines making. Learn how cocoa beans get turned into the best refined chocolate in Europe. Saint Nicholas’ Church Visit Saint Nicholas’ Church mesen and crypt, one of the most prominent landmarks in Ghent.

5 Day 2 Tyne Cot Cemetery Your students will gain an appreciation for the scale of losses when visiting Tyne Cot Cemetery, the largest Commonwealth Cemetery in the world with nearly 12,000 graves. Hooge Crater Learn about the different weapons used at war, and the damage they cause! See a collection of artefacts from the front line, and be given a unique tour where you’ll see an original Ford T Ambulance on display and a replica of a Fokker DR1 triplane!

6 Day 2 Sanctuary Wood Museum / Hill 62
Discover how casualties were tended to at Sanctuary Wood during the first battle of Ypres. The museum houses a captivating collection of photographs and you will also be able to walk through a series of well-preserved trenches. Whilst in the area visit the Sanctuary Wood cemetery and the Hill 62 Canadian Memorial, so called as the hill is 62 metres above sea level. In Flanders Fields Museum Learn about the history of WWI with interactive exhibits tailored to your pupils’ demographic. Learn the story of the invasion of Belgium and the resulting war.

7 Day 2 Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery
See the thousands of graves and learn about the biggest evacuation hospital in the Ypres Salient based in Lijssenthoek. The visitor Centre offers an interactive experience with the ability to look up names, regiments and battalions. Stories of victims which died on the day, one hundred years ago are told and you can then visit their headstone in the cemetery. The Menin Gate & the Last Post Ceremony At 8pm attend the Last Post Ceremony at the Menin Gate Memorial and experience for yourselves the moving tribute to the missing soldiers of the UK and Commonwealth.

8 Day 3 Langemark German Cemetery
Visit Langemark to see the contrast between the German cemeteries and those of the Allies. Here, your students will learn about the first poisionous gas attack by the Germans and see the flat stones marking burial plots with up to eight soldiers sharing one grave. Vimy Ridge Grounds in the memorial park has been left undisturbed, and there are trenches and shell holes clearly visible in the grass. In one area, the trench outlines have been made more permanent by the addition of concrete "sandbags", and you can walk along these trenches, which are deeper than those at Beaumont Hamel or Sanctuary Wood.
