Why We Have Day And Night
By Emma Miller

Long ago, it was always dark and there was no daylight on earth
Long ago, it was always dark and there was no daylight on earth. It is different now. Thanks to thirteen heroic astronauts we now have daylight on earth. These astronauts positioned sun, moon and earth in a way where earth received daylight.
3
Sun, moon, and earth stood where ever they wanted in the solar system
Sun, moon, and earth stood where ever they wanted in the solar system. Sun, moon, and earth moved in all different directions at crazy fast speeds giving people on earth only blurs of daylight. One day, moon noticed weird-looking figures in bulky, white suits coming toward them. “Sun! Moon! Earth!,” shouted the figures.
4
The figures pulled large ropes out of pockets of their suits and swung them toward the sun. They tied the ropes around the sun and tugged on the ropes to tighten them. The astronauts slowly but strongly pulled the sun toward the middle of space.
5
Next, the astronauts untied the ropes from sun and said, “We’ll explain later.” They took the ropes and tied them around earth. They pulled earth around and aligned him next to but far away from sun. The astronauts then removed the ropes from earth.
6
The ropes were tied tightly around moon as she struggled to free herself. The astronauts pulled moon next to but not to far from earth. They then released moon from their clutches.
7
The astronauts told sun, moon, and earth what they were doing and sun, moon and earth agreed to do it. The biggest astronaut told earth to revolve around sun as well as rotating on his axis. The smallest astronaut told moon to revolve around earth and to rotate on her axis. At the exact same time, the thirteen astronauts yelled at sun. “YOU STAY EXACTLY WHERE YOU ARE YOUNG MAN! UNDERSTOOD ?” Sun nodded his head at the astronauts.
8
After returning home, the astronauts were extremely boastful and proud of themselves for giving earth daylight. From then on, the people on earth enjoyed lots of daylight and moonlight. The astronauts became rich as they enjoyed the attention from villagers and thought, “Wow, sun, moon and earth are so helpful to us.”

Legend has it! Daylight is a gift!

Author’s Note The actual reason why we have day and night is earth rotates and revolves and moon rotates and revolves. The sun stays still in the middle of the solar system. Earth moves around the sun receiving light throughout the year. As earth moves around the sun, earth is also spinning on his axis where different parts of the earth are facing the sun. The moon revolves around earth while also rotating, giving earth moonlight.
