1 Famous Americans Third Grade

2 Best known for: being a patriot in the American Revolution.
Paul Revere Best known for: being a patriot in the American Revolution. He is most famous for his midnight ride warning the colonists that the British soldiers were coming.

3 Character Traits: Revere valued liberty, (or freedom).
He worked diligently for America’s independence from British rule. Paul Revere

4 Frederick Douglass Best known for: being a slave who escaped, became an abolitionist, a writer and adviser to Presidents.

5 Frederick Douglass Character Traits: Douglass demanded equal treatment when he spoke out against unfair laws. This showed freedom of conscience and expression.

Susan B. Anthony Best known for: fighting for suffrage, or the right of women to vote.

7 Susan B. Anthony Character Traits: Susan B. Anthony showed diligence when she worked hard for many years to help end slavery and to win the right to vote for women.

Mary McLeod Bethune Best known for: being a great educator. She was a leader of women, a distinguished adviser to several American presidents, and a powerful champion of racial equality.

9 Mary McLeod Bethune Character Traits: Mary McLeod Bethune showed respect for and acceptance of authority as she worked with Presidents Coolidge, Hoover and Roosevelt.

19 Lyndon b. Johnson Character Traits: LBJ showed tolerance, or respect for the values and beliefs of others, by working to end poverty and racial injustice.
