1. Need Number Four: Protection Against the Enemy
Espionage Act: made it illegal to do anything that would be considered “working against” the government
Sedition Act: made it illegal to print any negative information or opinions about the U.S. and their actions during the war.
Committee on Public Information: group set up to raise support for going to war.

2. Need Number Five: Conservation of Resources
Fuel Administration: worked to find ways to get U.S. government to conserve fuel resources. As a result, the U.S. started Daylight Savings Time and has been using it ever since.
Food Administration: All rationing during WWI was voluntary (unlike WWII).
War Labor Industries Board: Group in charge of all war-related production of supplies. Converted many factories into war-production factories.

3. Need Number Six: Paying for the War
Liberty Bonds: nickname for savings bond during the war.

4. Need Number Seven: Keeping Industry in Line
War Labor Relations Board: this organization was set up to prevent strikes during the war. They gave workers more rights and higher pay…as a result there was a lot of labor stability and little threat of striking during the war.
