Broadway Boogie Woogie
Mondrian moved to New York and was excited by the architecture, the cars, the lights and the music. Boogie- woogie became a populartype of music and Mondrian created art work to reflect the sounds of boogie- woogie as well as the busy energy of the streets of New York City. Vocabulary to Know Vertical lines: runs up & down
Horizontal lines: runs sideways Geometric shapes: squares, rectangles; shapes I know Primary colors: red, yellow, blue You are going to make a collage of your city street with primary colors plus black and white. You are going to create streets using vertical and horizontal lines. You can make your cars out of squares.
