The kidney filters waste products from the blood and passes this out of the body It also controls the amount of water and salts in the body

Objective: To describe the composition of urine

Urine Composition Urine is made up of: Water (largest component) Urea
Mineral Salts (mainly sodium chloride) Other waste products

Kidney Stones One common and painful kidney disorder is kidney stones, which are small crystals (made up of substances such as calcium) formed in the kidney It is mainly caused by not drinking enough water.

The Liver Objective: To describe the function of the liver

Functions of the Liver Produces bile which helps to: digest fat
Excretes bile pigments (produced from hemoglobin breakdown) 2. Detoxifies harmful substances such as alcohol and drugs by chemically altering them
