There is a variety of food service; the type used in any
establishment will depend on a number of factors: the policy of the establishment the type, size and site of the establishment the time available the type and number of customers the type of menu and its cost

Fast food restaurants Fast food restaurants provide customers with convenience, speed, and basic services at lower prices. Customers usually help themselves and carry their own food to their tables. They have fewer employees than other restaurants.

Fast food restaurants Fast food restaurants generally have a counter where you place your order, pay for it, wait for it, pick it up, and either take it with you or carry it back to your table. Many have drive through service as well. Menu items can be prepared in 3-5 minutes and most have smaller dining rooms.

Cafeterias Cafeterias are food services where food is displayed along a counter or serving line. Customers walk along the line and ask the server to serve them and then they carry their tray to the table.

Buffets Buffets consist of food displayed on tables. Servers keep displays stocked with food and customers walk around and serve themselves, then take their food to the table.

Carryout restaurants Carryout restaurants specialize in preparing food for customers to take with them to eat home or elsewhere. They may provide very little seating. These include delicatessens, grocery stores, and pizza places.

Casual dining restaurants include all full service restaurants. Single Item Restaurants Family Restaurants Ethnic Restaurants

Single Item Restaurants
Single Item restaurants choose to specialize in a single item of food such as pizza, steak, pancakes, or seafood. They may serve other foods as well, but their focus is on a single food.

Family restaurants Family restaurants cater to families and emphasize variety and comfort. They have extensive menus and usually offer comfort foods and traditional dishes. Some have developed into chains.

Ethnic restaurants Ethnic restaurants specialize in an ethnic cuisine. Examples include Italian, Chinese, Ethiopian, Indian, Japanese, Mexican, Spanish, and Thai.

Fine dining restaurants
Fine dining restaurants emphasize the highest quality of service, ingredients, and atmosphere. There are many more employees per customer. These restaurants are usually smaller and have seatings at certain times. Most have professional chefs on staff.

Brasserie and bistro Вrasserie is a type of French restaurant with a relaxed setting, which serves single dishes and other meals. A brasserie can be expected to have professional service, printed menus, and traditionally, white linen—unlike a bistro which may have none of these. Typically, a brasserie is open every day of the week and serves the same menu all day. In its original Parisian version, a bistro is a small restaurant. It serves moderately priced simple meals in a modest setting.

Сafé A café is a type of restaurant which usually serves coffee and snacks. The term "café" comes from French, and means "coffee". You can read newspapers and magazines there, or chat with other customers. It is known as a place where information can be exchanged. A café is sometimes called a coffeehouse or a coffee shop in English.

Corner Stores A small retail store, often in a residential area, that carries a limited selection of items such as snack foods, soft drinks, tobacco products, over-the-counter, newspapers, and magazines

Bar/Lounges A bar (also known as a saloon or a tavern or sometimes a pub or club) is a retail business establishment that serves alcoholic beverages, such as beer, wine, liquor, cocktails, and other beverages such as mineral water and soft drinks and often sell snack foods such as crisps . Some types may also serve food from a restaurant menu

Temporary Food Service Events
A temporary food service event is an event of 30 days or less in duration where food is prepared, served, or sold to the general public and is advertised and recognized in the community.
