Political Ideologies This closely linked set of beliefs is what we think of as our political stance, or set of guiding values.

Political Ideologies There are usually 5 main political ideologies that are discussed; Anarchism- No government (Historically Russia) Absolutism- Single ruler total control (King, Emperor) Liberalism Conservatism Socialism- Collectivism > Individualism (Communism is an evolution of socialism)

-advocates gov. action to improve the welfare of individuals -supports civil rights and social change -Support for traditional values -government should take action to reduce poverty -Democratic Party -limited role of government in helping individuals -Strong sense of patriotism -Support for traditional values -individual is primarily in responsible for his or her own well-being -oppose gov. programs to redistribute wealth -Republican Party
