4 Statistics of disorder
Patau Syndrome affects 1 in 10,000 newborns and occurs equally in both males and females. This disorder affects all racial ethnicities equally. The mortality rate of Patau Syndrome is very high and many fetus’ are miscarried. Some people affected can even make it to their teens.

5 Treatment Abortion is recommended or else there must be surgeries performed within the first couple of months of birth. Those who do survive the intense procedures are very few in number.

6 Interesting facts Also known as Trisomy 13 syndrome
Common birth defects include Kidney defects, Holoprosencephaly, and skin defects of the scalps. Only one person with Patau Syndrome has survived to the age of 33. All those affected must go through multiple forms of therapy.
