2. What makes ice melt the fastest?
What makes ice melt fastest, salt, pepper, or sugar?

3. Background
I chose this project because I wanted to see if pepper or sugar would melt ice faster than salt because I know that salt melts ice. I wondered if sugar would even melt the iceI have done this project, but I didn’t use the same spices.

4. Hypothesis
If I use salt, then the ice will melt faster. I think this because I know that we use salt during the winter to melt ice so we can walk and drive to get places.

5. Variables Independent: The type of spice.
Dependent: How fast the ice melts.
Constants: The amount of ice, and spices, and the size of the bowl.

6. Procedure Get 1 teaspoon of salt, pepper, and sugar.
Get 3 bowls, each with 4 ice cubes in them,
Put 1 teaspoon of salt, pepper, and sugar in one bowl for each spice.
Time how long each bowl of ice takes to melt and record it.
Clean up any mess you made.

7. Data-1 It took the bowl with sugar in it took 1:53:07 to melt.
It took the bowl with salt in it took 1:13: to melt.
It took the bowl with pepper in it took 2:07: to melt.
