Notes: What is Energy? Energy is anything that can cause matter to change. Hitting a baseball, holding a book above your head, digesting food and heating water all take energy!

Chemical, mechanical, sound, heat, light, electrical, nuclear, gravitational, and elastic.

How are Potential Energy and Kinetic Energy related?
Energy can be transferred from potential to kinetic energy. If an object has more potential energy to start, then it will have more kinetic energy when it starts moving.
