3 Examples The joggers dressed warmly before they headed outside.
The air was quite cold. The joggers hoped it would warm up quickly. Suddenly, the wind rose. The wind rose suddenly.

4 Negatives Words that mean “no”, such as:
Not, never, nowhere, neither, barely They often function as adverbs Example: I can hardly believe that you have never eaten oysters.

5 Comparing with Adverbs
Positive Adverb: Used when no comparison is being made Examples: I studied hard for the test. Snow falls frequently in Vermont. Comparative Adverb: Used to compare two actions Examples: I must study harder this year than last year. Snow comes more frequently when the wind is from the north.

6 Superlative Adverbs Compares three or more actions Examples: I will study hardest for final exams. Snow comes most frequently during February. Other words that might be used: Badly, worst, worse

7 Adjective vs. Adverb We may never know the real facts in the case.
Jesse is doing well after the surgery. We may never really know the facts in the case. The surgery went well.
