What is a pattern? Name some places that you see patterns every day.

Addition number patterns
Addition patterns: Look for the numbers to INCREASE. Example: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10…. What is the pattern? To solve, find two numbers next to one another. Find the difference between the numbers. Then make sure the pattern fits for all numbers.

Subtraction number patterns
For subtraction patterns, the numbers will DECREASE, or go down. To solve, find two numbers next to one another and find the difference. Then make sure it works for the whole number pattern. Example: 21, 18, ___, 12, ___, 6, 2
