Division in Rome Diocletian- Emperor divides Rome into two parts: Eastern Roman Empire, and Western Roman Empire. West begins to fall and people leave the city of Rome East will prosper

Constantine Emperor Constantine created a eastern capital called Constantinople. previously Greek city Byzantium. Rome remains the Western capital.

Barbarian Invasions Attacked the Visigoths in Eastern Europe.
Huns- group of nomadic horseman led by Attila (400 A.D.) Attacked the Visigoths in Eastern Europe. Leads to Visigoths invading Roman Territories. Visigoths sacked Rome in 410 A.D.

Invasions Rome has fallen
Vandals-from N. Africa, sacked Rome in 455 A.D. 476 A.D.- Romulus Augustus the Western Emperor was killed by Ostrogoths, or Western Goths Rome has fallen

Why did Rome Fall? Barbarian Invasions- Rome could not protect their massive borders Christianity-Christianity focused on individual, not the state Rome failed to advance technology due to slave labor (less invasions=less slaves)
