Why are Myths and Legends created? Why are they still told?
- To pass on knowledge - To recount a memorable/significant event - To pass on social morals - To entertain - To help form part of an individual or collective identity

What is the difference between a myth and a legend?

Research Tasks using devices:
Myth - Usually based on fictional characters and events - Heroes, Monsters, Quests Legend - Predominantly based on actual people and/or events with some fanciful or exaggerated elements. Research Tasks using devices: Research one GREEK MYTH online. Create a list of the elements that make this story a myth. Research one LEGEND (i.e. Helen of Troy, the Trojan Horse, King Arthur, Robin Hood) and write a 50 word summary of what the legend is about.
