1 The key to making an effective narrative argument is to establish a narrative of truth and to show its relevance to a wider problem or question. Does the evidence appear to be plausible? What is the wider problem? Will people relate to it and care about it? By having evidence that goes beyond a single incident, you can make your argument more compelling. Is there a variety of evidence types? Is more than one incident included? When developing a narrative argument you should give as many details as possible to set the story. Is there sensory imagery and extra details that help the reader “see” the places and people included? A narrative argument leaves the reader with something to ponder, and it allows the reader to make a personal decision based on the evidence provided. Do you feel that the ending is strong enough? Do you continue to think about your stance on the issue/topic after reading? Directions: Read your peer’s paper. Give feedback on the above statements.
