2 APPEARANCE Army ants are ants with powerful mandibles that are usual yellow and black. They can be 10mm to 12mm long and can live for 1year. They are nearly blind and can see only light and dark. This Photo by Unknown Author is licensed under CC BY-SA

3 HABITAT Army ants live in tropical Rainforests in bivouacs. Bivouacs are all the worker ants combined to form a shelter to protect the queen and the larva. 4 FOOD Army ants eat a wide variety of insects, lizards, and small mammals. There are so many when they look for food they send scouts to look for food. When they do find food they send a smell. 5 ENEMIES AND DEFENSES Army ants are strong predators together. But are weak when they are all alone. they travel together to stay safe. The predators of army ants are anteaters (also dwarf anteaters), jaguars, spiders, and other colonies. This Photo by Unknown Author is licensed under CC BY-SA

6 OTHER In the world there are more than 200 army ant species in the world. In a army ant colony the queen can lay up to 30,000 or more eggs in two days. Army ants are aggressive and will attack.
