1 What is a volcano? A volcano is a landform usually a mountain where molten rock erupts through the surface of the earth.

2 What is the difference between magma and lava?
Magma is a liquid rock inside a volcano. Lava is a liquid that comes out of a volcano.

3 What causes a volcano to erupt
The Earth's crust is made up of huge slabs called plates, which fit together like a jigsaw puzzle. These plates sometimes move. Between the Earth's crust and the mantle is a substance called magma which is made of rock and gases. When two plates collide, one section slides on top of the other, the one beneath is pushed down.  Magma is squeezed up between two plates.

4 What are the 3 types of volcanos
A stratovolcano  is a conical volcano consisting of layers of solid lava flows mixed with layers of other rock.

5 What is the ring of fire? The Ring of Fire is a long chain of volcanoes and other tectonically active structures that surround the Pacific Ocean.

6 What effects do volcanos have on people and the enviroment?
Volcanoes affect people in many ways, some are good, some are not. Some of the bad ways are that houses, buildings, roads, and fields can get covered with ash.

7 Reasearch Pompeii. What happened there?
