Beyond the river’s bend, some field of service
Is like a field unplowed, and no one cares,
Will you be willing then, to tell the story,
That Jesus is their friend, and that he cares.
And though you cannot see the unknown future,
You need not fear it now for what it holds;
For hath He not assured “I will be with thee”
So fear not desert heat nor freezing cold.

And thus you fail to warn of danger grave,
What will your answer be, when Jesus cometh,
And asks you of the one He died to save?
Beyond the river’s bend, some soul is waiting,
To hear the truth of God that you can tell,
So lay aside the task that does not matter,
And hasten now to warn his soul from hell.
