7th Year of Teaching - 1 Middle School Music & Choir, 1 Swimming, and 5 Health & PE From ND, Love to travel and be active. New Mom! 10.5 month old Michael Wheeling, LOVE TO TEACH AND LEARN!

3 Objective: Learn as many possible ways to energize your classroom to prepare students’ brains for learning!

5 Bingo! As I say each word you may cross it off. Yell Bingo once you have completed a full row. In order to claim your bingo you will have to explain and/or define each term in the row.

6 Vocabulary Activities
Alphabet Relays Story Time Vocab Relay Reverse Charades Wink Gauntlet

7 Alphabet Relay Students must cross the playing space and call out their vocab word that starts with the corresponding letter their team is on. Start with the letter A, second person B, third Person C, Today’s Category - Body Parts (Muscles, Bones, Common terms) Bonus- You must touch that body part to the floor! Can’t think of a term?!? = 1 Push Up and return to team.

8 Vocab Relay Small Sided Teams - No More than Teacher, the rest are runners Leader - Holds card, team encourager. Runners - Run to the card read and determine answer Correct - take card and return to line Incorrect - Learn the answer and complete one push up.

9 Story Time Vocab In small groups a student is selected to tell the story. The remaining students hold up a variety of vocab cards. Student must weave the terms into their story so that they make sense and show understanding of the term. As soon a term is used it is taken down and replaced with a new term. Student gets one point for each term. A final round can be played as a team against other small groups.

10 Educating Soft Skills - Self Esteem
On the Blank side of a note card: Write the name of someone in the room On the lined side - write a positive comment to them. Make sure to sign your name. Deliver Cards to Mrs. Wheeling While returning to seat discuss with 1 person, 2 things you have learned or could use in your class.

11 Passing back or handing out papers ….
Let’s Do Squats! One squat per name called! Come get your paper as your name is called.

12 Project Based Learning: Brain Boosts and Mindfulness
Dr. Terry Eckmann - 2 Text Books - 1 TED talk 101 Brain Boosts, 101 Mindfulness and Meditations Once a week book club - Class determines weekly outside of class Brain Boost and Mindfulness Practice Students then share these with other teachers and students

13 Let’s Talk Seating… Briefly
Desks, rows, pods, flexible seating, tables, standing, Discuss: What do you like? What do you have/use?

14 My students may sit in a chair or on the floor. There are no desks.
Diagram for how chairs will be used for the day. Clip boards available upon entering. Binders and other baggage left at the door.
